The Boys High School Select team has two teams this year, a u15, u17 and a u19 team. Depending on registration numbers, teams may be divided into 15/16 and 17/18/19u level teams. Player Development and fit is also taken into consideration when playing level is determined. Most years we have separate 15u, 17u, and 19u teams.
The u15 team is coached by Perry Hines and Eric Pealer. Coach Perry brings many years of coaching experience and holds USSF Grassroots level licenses. Coach Eric also has several years of coaching experience and Grassroots licenses. Both coaches provide high level instruction and motivation to support the players in their development and enjoyment of the game. This group of players is a younger team that have been playing SESA for many years as well as additional players joining each year. This group is a great example of SESA playing curriculum and philosophy being applied throughout a players developmental years. Several of these players have been playing with SESA for 5 years or more. This group is consistantly competitive with other Iowa Soccer League teams and continues to develop their skills and abilities. These players are the leaders of their middle school teams and making impact on and even starting as freshman for their high school teams.
The HS u17 and u19 teams are comprised of a large group of players representing over 10 different high schools. The teams use a fluid roster format that allows for coaches to move players between the two teams to provide the most appropriate balance of individual growth, development and challenge, while also provide a sufficient challenge and degree of success for the team as a whole. The teams are coached by Chris Davis, who has been with this group for a number of years. Assistant Director of Coaching Baret Ertzinger and Director of Coaching Chris Madigan, who both have over 10 years of high level coaching and playing experience also run weekly training sessions and work closely with this group. A number of these players have been with SESA for 8 or more years and have seen a tremendous amount of success, often winning first or second in their bracket during tournaments and topping the ISL league. These players are starters and captains for their high school teams and the schools with a higher number of SESA players consistantly perform at a higher level. Training is focused on application of skills in games, tactical mastery, team oriented positional play, and creating successful game situations. Players looking to start and make an impact for their high school teams, pursure playing in college and recieve college recruitment, and develop a high level of skills and performance should pursue playing with SESA.
